Decimal Games

While looking through files I created at the beginning of the school year I stumbled upon this wonderful review game!

In our collaborative fifth grade class we often have the kids work through stations.  For this lesson we needed an independent activity for students to practice decimal computation.  I created this tic tac toe game and the students loved it!  I have placed the free download on teacher pay teachers.  I will post the link below.  What is great about this review is that students get double the practice.  In order to check their answers both students must complete the computation problem.  If there student come up with different answer they look back through their work to find their error.  In fifth grade we teach adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying decimals.  All four computations are combined in this review game.  We will most likely be using this again for a review game before our upcoming Math SOL!!!

Sight Word Dice

Here is yet another sight word game!  I am very excited about completing this project!  I used words for the Dolce Sight Word list to create a game for every level of sight words.

Rounding Game for Fourth Grade

My Rodeo Rounding independent work is complete!

We created a rounding game with rice shakers and work mats.  This was a great way for our fourth grade students to practice rounding independently.  There are three different work mats and three different sets of rounding problems.  Click on Rodeo Rounding below to download the file!

Third Graders Love Antonyms!

We have begun our SOL testing in Virginia!! I cannot believe how close we are to the end of the school year!  My third grade reading class will begin a review of topics we have learned thoughout the school year shortly.

I wanted to add a fun activity we did with antonyms.  My students loved this Astronaut Antonyms game which allowed them to also practice using words in context!

You can download this activity by clicking on Astronaut Antonyms below.

First Attemps

Yay!!! I've just started my first blog!  I'm feeling very accomplished at the moment as I've also created my own website in the past few weeks!

Today our school had a very need and very much appreciated snow day.  The free day has given me extra time to create some things for the classroom that we will use next week.  My third graders have been working on figurative language (so excited I get to teach this lesson)!  We have been working hard and have made a flip book to keep our thoughts together yet separated. :)  I will post a picture of the flip book we have made.  When we start back at school on Monday we will begin alliteration!  I have notes made for students to glue in their flip book then they will be able to create their own alliteration.  I will also post the notes that we will be using!

There is so much to learn on this blog.  I will do my best to figure out how to share a PDF file!

I've figured it out.  Click on the link below to view my Alliteration Printable that belongs in the flip book.  It is free on Teachers Pay Teachers.
